Tech Support FAQ

The most common questions we hear, answered without jargon.

Why does my WiFi disconnect randomly?

Usually due to IP address conflicts, outdated firmware, or interference from neighboring routers on the same channel (especially on 2.4GHz bands). A proper power cycle often fixes this temporarily.

Will clearing my cache delete my photos?

No. Cache files are temporary system and browser files used to load things faster. Your personal media files, documents, and applications remain entirely safe.

Is it bad to leave my laptop plugged in all the time?

Modern laptops have circuits to prevent overcharging. However, keeping a Lithium-ion battery pinned at 100% heat all day degrades its total capacity over months. It is healthy to discharge to 20% once a week.

Why is my printer saying "Offline"?

The print spooler software has crashed, or the printer acquired a new IP address from the router and your computer is trying to send data to the old one. Restarting the router and the printer simultaneously usually realigns them.

Why is my computer fan so loud?

High CPU usage generates heat. The motherboard tells the fans to spin up to prevent physical melting. Check your Task Manager or Activity Monitor to find the rogue app demanding 100% CPU processing power.

Do I really need to update my drivers?

Only if something is broken or performing poorly. While security patches are mandatory, peripheral drivers (like mice, printers) often only need updates if an OS update breaks their compatibility.

What is Bluetooth pairing failure?

A cache issue where the stored MAC address handshake becomes corrupted. 'Forgetting' the device from the menu and putting the peripheral back into fresh pairing mode clears this error.

How much free space does an SSD need?

Aim to keep at least 15% to 20% of your Solid State Drive empty. SSDs use free blocks to shuffle data around efficiently (a process called TRIM). When completely full, they slow down dramatically.
